In recent years, Weihai textile and garment enterprises have focused on retooling their businesses, ameliorating the import and export structure, finding more effective work processes, investing in niche products and markets, and controlling costs.

The rise of production, exports and prolific revenue for enterprises in Weihai is due to several factors like vast sources of raw materials domestically obtainable, low labor costs, entrepreneurship and design skills of traders, changes in the local policies to open up economy to the outside world etc.
