On August 27th, the “Connecting Shandong with Fortune Global 500” series event kicked off in Jinan, with the European session, the first of the five sessions, successfully held. Contracts of 10 key foreign-funded projects with a total investment of $797 million were signed at the session.

Li Ganjie, Governor of Shandong Province, had online talks with heads of Fortune Global 500, including Ivan Glasenberg, CEO of Glencore, Sanjiv Lamba, Executive Vice President of Linde plc, Fabrice Fourcade, Vice President of EDF Group and President of EDF China, Jan Rinnert, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors and CEO of Heraeus Group. Li sincerely invited multinational companies to share the new opportunities of Shandong's opening up, deepen foreign economic cooperation, and jointly maintain the stability of the global industrial chain.
Representatives of key Shandong companies in partnership with the Fortune Global 500, including Shandong Energy Group, Shandong Port Group, Jinan Energy Group, and NewLink Group, joined Li’s dialogue with foreign guests, manifesting Shandong’s determination to deepen cooperation with the Fortune Global 500.

At the session, contracts of 10 key foreign investment projects were signed, with a total investment of $797 million. These projects involve a variety of industries including high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, modern finance, biotechnology, food manufacturing and chemical industry, with partners mainly from 6 European countries, namely Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Poland and Sweden.
On the same day, supporting exchange activities were held at the same time in 5 cities of Jinan, Qingdao, Yantai, Weifang and Jining, to organize communication and negotiation of local compnaies with Fortune Global 500, and contract signing of a number of cooperative projects.
As the partner of the series event, Alan Murray, CEO of Fortune, expressed through a video message his hope that the series event could, through five online sessions oriented to Europe, ASEAN, the US, South Korea and Japan, play a crucial role in deepening the communication and cooperation between Shandong and heads of Fortune Global 500.
Since 1987, a total of 219 Fortune Global 500 companies have invested in Shandong, in a total of 785 companies across the 16 cities of the province. Shandong will continue to create a marketized, legalized, and internationalized business environment to ensure that foreign investors can invest in Shandong with confidence.
