Shandong realizes full coverage of 5G network in 16 cities

Jinan Yaoshan 5G base station was opened on September 26th, becoming the 50,000th base station in Shandong province. Up to now, the urban area of all the 16 cities in Shandong province have achieved a full coverage of 5G network, and 137 counties (cities, districts) realized continuous coverage in their central downtown.

5G is a key new type of infrastructure in supporting the digital, networked and intelligent transformation of society and economy. In recent years, Shandong has vigorously promoted 5G network construction and continuously pushed forward the application of development of 5G. Since the beginning of this year, the investment in 5G has reached 6.95 billion yuan and 5G users amounted to 9.235 million across the province, according to Zhang Hongyi, director of Shandong Communications Administration.

To ensure 5G construction, 16 cities of Shandong province have started the planning and formulation of the site of 5G base stations. At the same time, the province has vigorously propelled the legislation on promoting the construction and protection of communications infrastructure, with a regulation having been passed on September 25.
