South Korea session of “Connecting Shandong with Fortune Global 500” event series successfully held

On October 22, the South Korea session of “Connecting Shandong with Fortune Global 500” event series was successfully held in Jinan, capital of Shandong province, and Seoul. The session was jointly hosted by the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and Shandong Provincial People's Government, and Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea (MOTIE); and organized by the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province and Korea International Trade Association (KITA).

The session was held, like previous ones, through a combination of online and offline channels, with main venues in Jinan and Seoul, and branch venues in the 16 cities of Shandong. At the session, Liu Jiayi, secretary of Shandong Provincial Party Committee had online dialogues with Kim Young-ju, Chairman of the Korea International Trade Association, Sohn Kyung-Shik, Chairman of the CJ Group, and Chey Tae-won, Executive Vice Chairman of SK Group, to boost the confidence of win-win cooperation and improve cooperation between Shandong province and South Korea.

An online discussion on economic and trade and cooperation between Shandong province and South Korea was held simultaneously with the session. 200 companies and e-commerce platforms from a variety of fields including food, agricultural and fishery products, beauty, medical, and auto parts, from both China and South Korea participated in the discussion, communicating and negotiating on export and import trade and project cooperation, based on previously exchanged information on needs.

After the session at the main venues, supporting exchange activities were held at branch venues in Jinan, Qingdao, Zaozhuang, etc. 23 key projects have been signed, with a total investment of $820 million and contractual foreign investment of $397 million, involving a variety of industries including high-end equipment manufacturing, high-end chemicals, next-generation information technology, new materials, medical care and health, food processing, etc.
