| 主要内容： | Project description A biological reactor that will replace the use of environmentally dangerous and expensive chemical batteries in precision agriculture. We’ve developed an integrally unique way of generating electricity, from plants, without damaging them. Bioo Sensor is a small reactor based on microbial fuel cells applied to plant environments. Electricity is produced from the decomposition of organic substances obtained from living beings naturally found in the earth. This technology uses materials abundant on the planet, such as graphite, and which extraction is clean and provides water savings as compared to other types of energy sources. conomic rationale / Business Model One of the major problems in agriculture at the moment is the powering of a growing number of sensors (e.g. temperature, humidity, and pH). Existing solutions, such as solar panels or connections by cable, are costly and require constant maintenance. Most firms thus end up using chemical batteries in each sensor which have to replaced on average every 12 months, generating financial, logistical, and environmental costs. We provide a solution that offers durability with no maintenance of up to 10 years. Our solution is almost entirely based on graphite, which is a renewable, recyclable, sustainable, organic and extremely abundant material on Earth. Its extraction is cheap, safe, and non-polluting (in contrast to silicon used in solar panels). Bioo Sensor will be sold on a license model to major agricultural and sensorics corporations across the globe, whereby the client will be responsible for the manufacturing and integration of the mechanical components while Bioo will be producing the organic substances needed for the reactor functioning (which are completely safe to use in the fields and which will not generate any danger to the plants or the food itself). Financing details Project financing secured: EUR 2.86 million (65 %) Financing source: Private Three investment rounds raised from angel investors and small national funds totaling close to 1M€. Additional 2.5M€ equity-free obtained from two H2020 grants for R&D. The promoter has received / applied for EU / EIB financing support related to this project. Existing or potential bottlenecks for the realisation of the project / Potential risks 1. Limit of products by external patents block: the risk implications could be restrictions of the number of markets to commercialize. The risk is moderate and the mitigation factor is the adaptation of the product to our patent or licensing external patents. 2. Impediment to export to some products’ components by regulatory issues: the risk is the restriction of the number of markets to commercialize. The risk is low and the mitigation factor is to offer alternative local components. Project additional information The main advantage of Bioo lies in the development and marketing of technologically singular products without direct competition. The company owns a patent granted in Spain in the process of internationalization and will release another two during the next years. |
