Project description

ICUB3 is a software system designed and developed by Dhabibic to prevent the avoidable hospital associated infection, by applying a systematic risk management approach brought from Oil&Gas industry.

ICUB3 is the tool that allows hospital to leverage the transition process from a calculative culture to a proactive culture by making the prevention and infection programmes processes, that are in operation, truly effective. Icub3 systematic capture and alert (real-time) of no-compliance events (human error) on cleaning and disinfection tasks, enabling to proactively contain the risk of infection.

Economic rationale / Business Model

2 software versions:

standalone (software as a service) and API Version.

Revenues generated by:

Distribution agreements (standalone version) or Annual subscription directly to the Hospital (standalone version and API version).Royalty from an OEM version to strategic partnership.

The pricing will depend on the hospital beds number in each installation and the system features activated.

Project financing secured: EUR 0.14 million (9 %)

Financing source: Private

Establish the development team to finalise the MMP version.

Establish the marketing and technical team to implement the MMP in Europe. Hardware acquisition for demo systems on key hospitals.

During second half of 2020 installation on 6 key hospitals (Portugal and Spain)

Healthcare is a complex adaptive system. When advocates for improvement, health systems do not react predictably. The trade-offs, and positioning of stakeholders pulls strongly towards inertia.

The adoption of systematic safety approach in hospital can be difficult to implement due to the fact that individuals and systemic failings have not been regarded as scientific. Only reporting of scientific facts is well established on healthcare industry.

Project additional information

Icub3 system is already implemented as a pilot test at Hospital. St. Marta (Lisbon, Portugal) at Cardiothoracic Surgical and ICU (Adults and paediatric) department.

Icub3 was awarded with the "Best Healthcare Technology System" prize, during the “Future Healthcare Exhibition & Conference”, an international health event held at Olympia London, on March 2018.
