Alibaba opens Shandong HQ in Jinan

China's e-commerce giant Alibaba Group opened its Shandong headquarters in Jinan, the capital of Shandong province on Sept 23.

With 100 million yuan ($14.4 million) in registered capital, the Shandong headquarters is located in Jinan's Shizhong district.

It will focus on businesses involved in multimedia technologies development, enterprise management as well as computer hardware and software production, R&D and marketing.

Jinan's favorable business environment and its support policies led Alibaba to set up the Shandong headquarters in the city, according to Lin Qinghe, general manager of the newly-built headquarters.

The establishment of Alibaba Shandong headquarters is in line with the push by Shizhong district to accelerate its expansion.

Officials said that it was also a key step to help the city build a northern headquarters base of centrally-administered State-owned enterprises.

With a local office and expert team, Alibaba Group will cooperate with Shizhong district in city management, industrial upgrades and also brand building.
