10th Annual UK-China Leadership Forum: CBBC hosted & Huawei sponsored business Lunch

On Wednesday 11^th April 2018 at the Beijing Grand Hotel, the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) and the Great Britain China Centre (GBCC) hosted a lunch that was kindly sponsored by Huawei. It formed part of the 10^th Annual UK-China Leadership Forum, which is organised in partnership with the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party.
 
At the lunch, speeches were given by Lord Sassoon (Chairman, CBBC), Lord Mandelson (President, GBCC), and Anson Zhang (CEO Huawei UK Consumer Business Group), while Huawei also presented an excellent and informative case study detailing the successful development of its business centres in the UK.
 
Those attending also included Sir Oliver Letwin MP, Liam Byrne MP and Richard Graham MP, as well as many other representatives from all the main UK political parties. The Chinese businesses attending included Huawei, DiDi, Baidu and ofo, alongside many of CBBC’s premium UK business members such as BP, Prudential, Swire, Jaguar Land Rover, Rolls Royce, Jardine Matheson and Brunswick.

Speeches and conversations covered a range of topics, around recent global trends and their potential impact; future UK-China trade relations, especially as the UK prepares to leave the EU; and consumer-driven innovation in both products and services pioneered by China’s world-leading and rapidly growing private companies.
 
Huawei was the example presented of an already successful Chinese consumer tech company now expanding into international markets, including the UK, and as such will meet new sets of opportunities and challenges in its market expansion.
